GOLDEN SANDS, KINMEL BAY

This project was assigned to Lawsons following the demise of the original contractor undertaking the works. Works involved major repairs and replacement pipework to the 375mm diameter foul water network serving the west of Rhyl. Due to the reactive nature of this bespoke scheme the design works were extremely complex and the Client and Engineer valued our technical experience input.

The works necessitated working at depths at up to 5.00m. To ensure the total safety of all persons working on the scheme, a specialist sub-contractor was brought in to design a cofferdam and a further specialist sub-contractor placed the sheet piles in position before our specialist teams constructed the dam.

Due to the danger of working in deep manholes, our fully trained and equipped operatives monitored the gas levels in each of the manholes to ensure a safe working environment. We also operated a ‘top man/rescue man’ system at all times and registered all man entries with our head office in Denbigh.
